Description of the residence General Description Mvuno Development’s student accommodation residence is situated in Zazulwana Village, within 1 km radius from WSU Butterworth campus. The residence is currently ready for occupation. It can accommodate 40 students in its 10 double-rooms. The student accommodation has 3 buildings in the same yard. The residence has been designed to provide appropriate standard of living, a high level of convenience to the students and a conducive learning environment, with amenities such as: - A fully furnished study area; - WIFI; - Fully equipped kitchen; - Entertainment area with a TV; and - Internal bathrooms of appropriate size and design. Safety and security Mvuno Developments places great emphasis on the safety and security of the students. Therefore, the residence will be equipped with the following safety and security features: - The residence is fitted with lockable gates - All external entrances into the building and windows are fitted with burglar bars; - There is a security guard at the gate. - Access into the residence is strictly monitored. - The external surroundings of the residence is monitored through CCTV. - Transport is provided from and to campus. - The residence will have fire extinguishers, strategically located within the building. - The residence has eight entrances, providing enough evacuation routes in the event of fire. - Assembly areas are clearly marked. - There is sufficient lighting at the passages Specification of the residence The residence has been designed in accordance to the minimum standard requirements and specification of the Department of Education per Government No. 39238 on student housing. Below are the specific features of the residence which may be compared to compared to the minimum standards of the Department of Education: Student double rooms Area: 16 Square metres Mandatory room fittings: - Two beds - Two mattresses - Two study tables - Two desk chairs - Two Small table on bed side - Two lockable clothes cupboards - Two bookshelves Additional room fittings: - Two heaters - Two study lamps - Two mirrors Ablution facilities - Four washing basins - Eight showers fitted with curtains for privacy - Four lavatories Kitchen - Four 4 plate stoves - Four 320L fridges - Four sinks - Four Microwaves - 40 Lockable cupboards - Sufficient counterspace Recreational Facilities 32 square metre common room fitted with: - Permanently mounted TV set; and - DSTV Study area 32 square metre fully furnished study room with external entrances.
